A servo drive is generic name for a large variety of electronic devices used for controlling the appropriate operation of a servo-mechanism. Further expanding the definition, the servo-mechanism is also a generic term for any kind of motorized assembly which implements sensors for generating feedback signals used for continuous adjustments of the mechanism movement to match a predefined behavior. Usually this behavior is represented by a desired velocity, but it can be also torque value or position.
